Lake Nakuru National Park & Elmenteita
Lake Nakuru & Lake Elmenteita
Overview
Lake Elementaita, a soda lake in Kenya’s Great Rift Valley, is one of the oldest archaeological sites from the Oldowan period. Stone tools dating back 700,000 years were discovered at Kariandusi, highlighting early human activity. The lake is a vital bird sanctuary, hosting one of the world’s largest breeding populations of great white pelicans. Visitors can enjoy birdwatching, hiking on nearby hills, or strolling along the shoreline.
Lake Nakuru, another Rift Valley gem, is famous for its flamingo population, diverse birdlife, and abundant wildlife, including rhinos, buffaloes, and leopards. The park offers stunning viewpoints and waterfalls, making it a must-visit for nature lovers.
